ARMZ to Build Engineering Networks in the Northernmost City of Russia
The work execution contract was signed today by the head of Pevek city Nikolay Levanov and Vyacheslav Galaktionov, Director General, Elkon, JSC. The ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. subsidiary is recognized as the winner of the electronic auction held by the municipal customer: the Pevek urban district administration in accordance with the requirements of Federal Law No. 44 and auction documentation. The engineering network design, construction and commissioning with a total value of RUB 1.96 billion will be financed from the federal budget as part of the state program of the Chukotka Autonomous District «Development of the housing and communal services and water management complex» and a number of municipal programs.
«The engineering network construction is very important for further development of our northern city. It is good that the work will be performed by the ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation enterprise, for us this means reliability and unconditional fulfillment of contractual obligations. The state corporation came to Pevek for the long haul; our city is one of the Northern Sea Route ports and the place where the first floating nuclear power station was successfully commissioned. It is logical that ROSATOM will deal with infrastructure issues,» said Nikolay Levanov.
In turn, Vyacheslav Galaktionov said that the contract execution will be carried out as part of the ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. business diversification. «We have relevant experience in the work execution, including in the Far North. One of the most important priorities is to carry out the work without harming the environment. After the unconditional fulfillment of the contract obligations, we plan to continue activities in the Chukotka Autonomous District, probably in the mining sector as well,» he emphasized.
The Director General of Elkon, JSC recalled that currently the ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. enterprises are producing uranium in permafrost conditions in the north of the Republic of Buryatia, and a lead-zinc plant is being designed on the Yuzhny Island of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. The holding structure also includes its own engineering center: VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC design institute with a 65-year history.
Under the contract terms, the facility should be delivered to Pevek municipality in the IV quarter of 2021.
