ARMZ and the Russian Business Week in Moscow

8 February 2018

ARMZ took part in the Russian Business Week held on February 5-9, 2018 by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in Moscow. February 7, ARMZ rendered its opinion on the social responsibility in the era of the fourth industrial revolution during the Social Forum "Responsible Interaction of Business and Authorities for Sustainable Social Development". The report dedicated to the topic was prepared by Marina Liborakina, Deputy Director General for Strategy and Business Development.

"Understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility is blurred. In the Soviet times many enterprises were even more responsible than now. Greater attention and support from the state requires the development of intersectoral partnership. It is necessary to actively develop the cooperation between business, authorities and NGOs," Marina Liborakina, Deputy Director General of ARMZ, said in her speech at the Social Forum of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

The Russian Business Week is a key event, where proposals on topical areas of interaction between the state and business are discussed and formed. Various forums and conferences on the key economic issues are held as a part of the Russian Business Week. The high number of participants confirms the effectiveness of the event as the platform for forming areas of interaction between business and authorities.

The forum was attended by Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Maxim Topilin , Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, Valentina Pereverzeva, First Deputy Minister for Education and Science, Mikhail Shmakov, Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions, Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and others.

Topics of discussion:

  • Social development and the labor market: key outcomes of 2017 and priorities in the medium term perspective;
  • Main objectives of the General Agreement for 2018-2020;
  • Role of intersectoral interaction and partnership in improving the social climate and developing the human potential;
  • Russian business and sustainable development goals;
  • Increased participation of non-state sector in the social sphere: social entrepreneurship, non-profit organizations, small and medium-sized businesses.

"We understand and appreciate that the main task of business is the development of production, because it ensures the progressive development of the economy and the increase in the incomes of the population. But at the same time I want to note that we have never heard of companies failing to participate in helping the population, developing infrastructure, or implementing cultural projects. Your success is the success of the whole country," Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, mentioned, addressing the representatives of business at the Social Forum.
