Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn, Member of the Federation Council, visited Khiagda, JSC
As part of a working trip to the districts of the Republic of Buryatia, Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn, a member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, visited Khiagda, JSC (managed by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co./Ore Mining Division of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation).
"The last time I was here in 2015. The scale of the work done during this time, of course, is impressive. The own sulfuric acid plant and energy facility have been put into operation. New deposits are being developed. The constant growth in production to ensure the nuclear and energy independence of our country inspires a feeling of pride. The main thing is that the full compliance with the principle of environmental safety is clearly visible," said Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn.
The senator visited the facilities of the entire uranium chain - from a new local sorption facility (LSF) at the Istochny deposit to the main production building and the finished goods loading plant, ammonium polyuranate (yellow cake). "Undoubtedly, the visit to the production of sulfuric acid has been the most pleasant thing. Three years ago there were only walls here, and today new equipment is in operation. And environmental risks are completely excluded, there is no need to transport acid by road several hundred kilometers from Chita," - communicated a member of the Chamber of Regions.
The issue of cargo transportation became the main one at the meeting held in the rotational camp of Khiagda, JSC. Andrey Gladyshev, Drector General of the enterprise, reported that according to the results of the first half of 2018 the production plan was overfulfilled by 6 percent. Significant overfulfillment is expected according to the results of the year. The development of new deposits will not only increases the volume of supplies of strategic metal for the nuclear industry, but will also increase the volume of cargo transportation from the railroad base in Chita to the production site. "Today, heavy trucks make minimum five rides a day, from next year we forecast a significant increase in the transportation to and from the industrial site. At the same time, the Chita-Romanovka-Bagdarin earth road passing through the territory of the Republic of Buryatia, which is used for transportation, is in a poor state," said Andrey Gladyshev.
Director General of Khiagda, JSC informed that the Consolidated Group of Taxpayers of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation (CGT), which includes the uranium mining enterprise, additionally transfers more than RUB 200 million to the budget of the Republic of Buryatia per year. These funds, in his opinion, can be directed, among other things, to the regional road fund for the gradual construction of an asphalted road. Moreover, there is a positive example of the implementation of such a project in the neighboring region: at the expense of the CGT funds the Government of the Trans-Baikal Territory initiated the construction of the Matsievskaya-Krasnokamensk motorway. The new motorway to the city, where the largest uranium mining enterprise of Russia operates, Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union, PJSC, appeared in four years.
Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn answered that he would take up that issue. "The road is needed not only for the enterprise, but, first of all, for the residents of the Bauntovsky Evenk District," said the senator.
Nikolay Kovalev, the head of the Bauntovsky District, in his turn, said that ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation and Khiagda, JSC, had never stayed out of the solution to the issue of development of social infrastructure in the region where they operate. At the start of this year, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. and Rostelecom implemented a joint project to build a fiber-optic communication line in the Bauntovsky and Eravninsky Districts of Buryatia. Annually Khiagda, JSC, and the Bauntovsky District sign the Social and Economic Agreement on Cooperation. In 2018, in accordance with such agreement, the enterprise will additionally allocate RUB 5 million for the purchase of computer equipment for the Vitimskaya secondary school, the purchase of furniture for the kindergarten and other socially significant events.
"The richest reserves of our bowels are the foundation of the prosperous future of the republic and the whole country. We will make every effort to ensure that the work of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation in Buryatia is the most comfortable, in particular, regarding the necessary development of the infrastructure of the Bauntovsky Evenk District," said Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn.
