ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.Has Reported on the Results of the Work Done in the Area of Environmental Safety and Compliance for 2017

ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. took participation in the branch-specific workshop “Radiological Safety and Environmental Protection” carried out in Novosibirsk from May 21 to 25, 2018.

The workshop attendees considered topical issues of radiological safety and environmental protection assurance, improvement of the legislative and regulative framework, long-term plans and tasks of the branch enterprises in the area of environmental protection as well as heard the reports of the enterprises of State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom on the work done in 2017.

Inna Nikushkina, ecologist of the parent company of Atomredmetzoloto, JSC, presented the report of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. and summarized the results of the work in the main areas – soil disturbance, waste disposal, protection of the atmosphere and water resources.  A range of projects aimed at minimizing the impact of production factors on the environment was implemented at each uranium mining enterprise. Thus, in order to prevent the impact of the leakages of the tail facilities on the quality of the subsurface waters reconstruction of the water diversion wells was made in PIMCU, PJSC.  The filtration curtain excludes a possibility of getting of pollutants into the ground waters. “Continuous control over the quality and level of the subsurface waters will allow making a decision on performance of the second stage of the works: determination of location and drilling of additional wells”, Inna Nikushkina mentions. Khiagda, JSC, implemented remote control of continuous operation of the pumping equipment.  Automatic maintenance of the pre-set level in the reserve tanks excludes a possibility of overflow as well as off-the-meter water draw-off and occurrence of any leakage within the water supply area. The successful practices of Dalur, JSC, were noticed in the area of implementation of the program on the environmental protection within the framework of international project “Ecological Culture. Peace and Conciliation”. The enterprise won a prize in the nomination of “Ecological Culture in the Industry and Energetics”.

Totally the enterprises of the holding implemented more than 100 arrangements at the amount of 411 million roubles.

“The ore mining division of Rosatom considers ecological safety of production and responsible attitude to the environment as its absolute priority. The mining industry is associated with particular risks, but we do everything we can in order to maintain an advantageous ecological situation in the regions of operation of the uranium holding and to make the impact on the environment contamination insufficient”, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. Chief Inspector for safety control Vsevolod Galinov said.
