VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC Continues Successful Operations in the Foreign Market
The cost of design work for the world's leading mining companies is estimated at about $0.5 mln.
A major portion of the workscope envisaged for the foreign market will be rendered to the State-Owned Enterprise Navoi Mining & Metallurgical Combinat (Republic of Uzbekistan). “It was our Institute that designed the facilities for Navoi MMC in the 60s of the last century and since then we have maintained mutually beneficial relations with one of the world's largest gold producers,” said Alexey Shemetov, General Director of VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC.
Recently, based on the materials developed by the Engineering Center, the State Reserves Committee of Uzbekistan secured the reserves of the Muruntau open-pit mine. VNIPIpromtechnologii developed a project that allows to profitably mine small-scale gold deposits within a radius of 50 km from the Central Mining Administration. This will ensure a stable gold output at MMC until 2120. Also, the Engineering Center helped to develop and implement a conveyor line for transportation of overburden to dumps, which is a high-angle conveyor line with a capacity of up to 10 million tons of ore per year. Technical solutions for the development of the Muruntau-Mutenbay mine at a depth of 1000 m without transition to the underground method were substantiated.
“Currently, the size of one of the world's largest open-pit mines—Muruntau—is 3.5x2.5 km. The mine is 600 m deep. We have been tasked to continue the design work for further planning of open mining operations, to ensure the specified quality and the required volume. It has been planned to increase the size of the pit to 4.5x3.5 km.
The top priority tasks are to inspect the stability of the pit walls and prepare an open-cast mining development project. It is also necessary to design the relocation of the transload facilities and increase the volume of rock mass transportation through the use of cyclic-flow technology equipment. Another task is to assess the prospects for the development of the Amantaytau field, as well as to estimate reserves,” said Alexander Seleznev, Head of Department at VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC.
The experience of the oldest design institute which helped to bring 60 mining enterprises into operation throughout the 65 years of its history, is in demand not only in the near abroad. A leach line piping technology is currently being developed for an Australian mining company based on the experience of the projects implemented by Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union, JSC in the Trans-Baikal Territory.
“Today, customers need not only and even not so much a project, but rather the best integrated solution to their current problems. It is essential to choose the best technical solution as the basis for the Statement of Work for Design, and then to design and select the equipment and help install it. Customers trust us and we do our best to meet all their expectations,” adds Alexey Shemetov. This is the approach used in the cooperation with Navoi MMC and other mining enterprises.
