PD-2EE Electric Loader/Transporter Successfully Passed Factory Testing

ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. (part of Rosatom Corporation) finished factory tests of PD-2EE electric loader/transporter, designed for underground mining at PIMCU, PJSC.  The unit was designed for the “GorTech” (Gornaya Tekhnika, or Mining Equipment) project, which the company had been implementing since 2017, to create import substitution for battery-run and diesel loaders and transporters at PIMCU, PJSC.

The new model has a number of advantages over its predecessors. The most obvious of them are a power electric drive replacing a hydraulic transmission, automatized unit control, a single digital channel used for data processing, remote monitoring of technical status and on-line operation control, which are unparalleled among the Russian-manufactured equipment.

“Less than a year ago, we started designing this unit, and now you are able to see it in action”, says Igor Semenov, the project head and the First Deputy Director General, COO of The First Ore Mining Company, JSC. “PD-2EE is a modern machine, completely in tune with the market demands. Right now, we are one step away from automotive loading and transporting equipment, which, in the near future is going to drastically increase the efficiency of subsurface mining”.

Ergonomically placed joysticks and foot pedals ensure that the operator is comfortable while working. The unit design makes maintenance and repair convenient, and most importantly, allows easy switch to ion-lithium batteries in the future.

Grigory Goryachiy, the project’s technical manager, notes: “Thanks to this new equipment being put into operation, we foresee cutting maintenance and repair costs down by 40 per cent and energy consumption by 30 per cent”.

We recall that the “Gortech” project was represented at the First National Import Substitution Forum in 2017. Models of mining equipment, designed for that project, were highly praised by the mining professionals and Prime Minister D.V. Medvedev personally. There at the Forum it was remarked that the new equipment was going to be used at new uranium mine No.6, which is now being constructed in Trans-Baikal.

Assembly facility for automotive mining equipment ought to cover PIMCU, PJSC’s own demand; there are also plans to sell the new model abroad.

Fore reference: PD-2EE’s capacity is 2.6 tons, bucket volume is 1.16 m3, and overall machine dimensions are 6315х1500х1990 mm.
