Rosatom Ore Mining Division Presents New Models of Domestic LHD Machine During “Import Substitution” Exhibition
The Ore Mining Division of State Corporation “Rosatom” is taking part in the 3d International Международной Specialized Exhibition “Import Substitution” to run from September 12 till September 14, 2017 in “Crocus-Expo”.
Under the event activities the holding stand was visited by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation D.A. Medvedev, Deputy Prime Ministers A.V. Dvorkovich and D.O. Rogozin, the Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation D.V. Manturov. Two models of the domestic load-haul-dump machine (LHD machine), i.e. LH-1D (a small narrow web diesel machine) and LH-2E (electrical LHD machine) made by PJSC PIMCU were presented to the Government delegation. This equipment has no comparable counterparts produced in our country. Now it can be seen, that the national ore mining engineering industry is being restored to life at PIMCU.
The use of machines produced by the PJSC PIMCU repair and engineering works will further make it possible for the Krasnokamensk site of the ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. to cross over to practically complete self-production of LHD machines, to lower three-fold unscheduled idle periods and expenses for LHD machine acquisition as compared to the previously purchased import equivalents.
As the Adviser to the General Director of JSC Atomredmetzoloto A.G. Burutin noted in the course of the presentation to the Prime Minister, the machines are in demand not only at the Russian market. The holding is exploring the possibilities of extension of LHD machines sales markets in the CIS countries, and is working at the upgrading of the mass produced LHD machines. Diversification of the production will enable PIMCU to enter new markets in the future and to ramp up the profits. The Prime Minister was also informed that the new machines are expected to be involved during the implementation of the strategically important for PIMCU and the whole of Krasnokamenst project on construction of ore mine No.6 based on Argunskoye and Zherlovoye uranium deposits, whereby it is required to speed up taking a decision on the state support in terms of the further project stages funding. The issue regarding financial support of Ore Mine No.6 was previously touched upon at the meeting of the President of Russia V.V. Putin with the Governor of Trans-Baikal Territory N.N. Zhdanova, held on August 11.
“Benefits and advantages of the priority social and economic development area in Krasnokamensk provide favorable environment for the implementation of new businesses. Manufacture of the mining equipment is one of the remarkable examples. We also focus on the support for mechanical engineers provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The federal budget subsidies to compensate in part the production costs and market launch of the pilot batches of equipment will in the mid-run make it possible to develop new types of the mining equipment and to secure our presence at the market” – commented I.Yu. Semenov, the project manager, the first deputy general director of JSC “The First Ore Mining Company”.
