Rosatom and Republic of Buryatia Reach Cooperation Agreement in the Region at SPIEF 2017
Alexey Likhachev, General Director of Rosatom Corporation and acting head of the Republic of Buryatia Alexey Tsydenov, signed a protocol to implement the 2012 agreement on regional cooperation at the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The document presupposes cooperation between the parties on construction of a fiber optic communication channel between Sosnovo, Ozerskoye, Romanovka and the production site of JSC Khiagda (part of ARMZ Uranium Holding / Mining Division of Rosatom State Corporation). According to the agreement Rosatom will provide RUB 41.3 mln as co-financing of the project.
Also, in order to develop further the road infrastructure of Bauntovsky Evenkiysky Municipal District, JSC Khiagda will transfer into the ownership of Buryatia a technological bridge across the Vitim River in the village of Romanovka.
“Buryatia is home to JSC Khiagda production enterprise of Rosatom, and we are naturally interested in socio-economic development of this region. The signed protocol starts the process of implementing a joint construction project of a fiber optic line to the industrial facility of JSC Khiagda. This is an important project for high quality communication between the uranium prospecting facility and the rest of the world. It will also provide high-speed Internet access to the residents of the nearby districts,” Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom, said after the signing ceremony.
“Hiagda has been active on the regional market for 20 years already, and over this time the enterprise has proven its effectiveness, the strategic approach and shown that it pays special attention to development of the territory. According to the enterprise’s production plans, JSC Khiagda aims to become one of the leaders on the Russian market of uranium production in the near future, providing the strategic raw materials to the Russian industry for decades to come,” said Vladimir Verkhovtsev, General Director of JSC Atomredmetzoloto after the signing of the protocol.
