The First 2017 Awareness Raising Day Held at ARMZ

The first Awareness Raising Day of 2017 was held at Atomredmetzoloto JSC. The event was dedicated to the results achieved in 2016 and the plans of the holding company for this year.

First, the employees of the holding company watched a video message from Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation. He spoke about the achievements and significant projects of the last year mentioning the plans and tasks for the current one. When answering the question about the prospects of implementing the Mine No. 6 project in the Trans-Baikal Territory and the necessary investment, Mr. Likhachev said: “The funding shall be attracted from different sources. The first step has been already taken, as we have entered into the programme of priority projects in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This year, we are planning to attract half a billion rubles from the federal budget”. He added that, given the engagement of investors, the state corporation was planning to decide on the implementation of the Mine No. 6 project over the year.

Then, Vladimir Verkhovtsev, CEO of Atomredmetzoloto JSC, made a presentation. He highlighted the contribution of all employees of the holding company to achieving the strategic goal set three years ago being operation at the break-even level. At year-end 2016, PIMCU PJSC developed a positive ROI for the first time in a few years. The CEO said: “Return to profitability has not resulted just from a large-scale work on increasing efficiency and reducing costs; it is a true feat of all the company employees, who have managed to fulfill ambitious obligations despite the continuing deterioration of the situation at the uranium market”. He drew the attention of all employees to an even more difficult task awaiting all subsidiaries of the holding company and each division thereof in 2017 – to maintain the break-even level.

Marina Liborakina, Deputy CEO for Strategy and Business Development, reported on the importance of the contribution made by the mining division to the achievement of the strategic objectives set by Rosatom State Corporation in the long term. Mrs. Liborakina noted: “2017 marks the 10-year anniversary of the adoption of the law on the establishment of Rosatom State Corporation. Nuclear industry is the most high-tech, progressive and growing in our country and we are now at the stage where it is necessary to accumulate all resources, including those of the mining division, and aim them at ensuring the global leadership of Rosatom. In this direction, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. has a number of benefits and achievements, including a rich domestic mineral resource base that ensures meeting the needs of the State Corporation for Russian uranium, ongoing work to reduce and retain a competitive production cost, as well as consistent implementation of the strategy to diversify the product portfolio of the holding company”. She added that Atomredmetzoloto had a great potential in the introduction of scientific and technological innovations, as well as expansion of cooperation and collaboration both with the companies in the industry and with external partners.

After the speeches of the company executives, a Q&A session was held, during which the holding company employees got to ask them any questions.

The event ended with a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the competition “Person of the Year ARMZ-2016” held for the first time and arranged for the 10-year anniversary of the decision to establish the mining division of Rosatom State Corporation. The winners were awarded commemorative prizes and diplomas.
