JSC Dalur Signed Up for the Ecology Year Declared in the Russian Federation
In late January 2017, the company signed a trilateral agreement with the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Kurgan Region and the Office of Rosprirodnadzor in Kurgan Region on cooperation in the implementation of measures aimed at reducing the impact on the environment in 2017.
Lyudmila Abdryakhimova, environmental protection engineer at Dalur, says: ‘Environmental protection and conservation of natural resources in the subsoil operation areas are strategically important tasks not only for JSC Dalur, but for the mining division of Rosatom State Corporation, including our company, in general. Our main purpose is to ensure the required uranium mining safety level that minimizes the impact on the environment, personnel and population, thus preserving the natural environment in production areas. Indeed, the improved environmental performance enhances the quality of life and increases competitiveness. We include environmental guidelines in the programs of developing efficient uranium production methods, persistently develop the programs to reduce the man-caused impact on the environment and involve all the employees in the aforesaid activities’.
By signing the agreement, the company shall not only achieve excellent results in environmental protection reducing the negative impact, but also carry out soil conservation, reforestation, redevelopment of the surrounding villages and popular environmental education. In particular, coastal zones of the Peschanoye lake and Barneva river will be cleaned, pine trees in the villages Uksyanskoe and Peschano-Koledino will be planted, a month’s campaign called Ecology and Us and the Environmental Knowledge Days for pupils will be held at the expense of JSC Dalur in 2017.
Similar trilateral agreements have been entered into by the Department of Natural Resources with eleven large industrial enterprises in the Kurgan region. The Ecology Year Organizing Committee was headed by Alexey Kokorin, Governor of the region.
Liudmila Abdryakhimova says: ‘I am sure that none of our employees will stand aside from these activities. After all, environmental protection is important for all of us’.
