VNIPIpromtekhnologii celebrated its 65th anniversary
VNIPIpromtekhnologii, nuclear industry leader in the design of mineral production facilities, scientific, experimental, research and development activities for the needs of uranium mining, has celebrated its 65th anniversary.
The solemn event dedicated to the anniversary was held at Intourist Kolomenskoye Hotel. Friends and partners of VNIPIpromtekhnologii, including colleagues from the entities being part of the control loop of Rosatom, staff of academic institutions, representatives of the Urban Planning Policy Department of Moscow and the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation came to congratulate the Institute.
In his speech dedicated to this occasion, Director General of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. Vladimir Verkhovtsev noted the outstanding historical achievements of the Institute experts and expressed confidence that in the future VNIPIpromtekhnologii, now being the Engineering Center of the mining arm of Rosatom, will have a lot of interesting and successful work for the benefit of the nuclear industry of Russia.
VNIPIpromtekhnologii’s Director Yuri Dmitrak spoke about the key recent achievements of the Engineering Center: "Currently we are successfully developing not only traditional areas (mining, hydrometallurgy, radiation technology, environment), but we are also able to comprehensively fulfill scientific and design application tasks in the field of process engineering and "turnkey" construction of industrial facilities. The first such project was the development and introduction of yellow cake drying technology at Dalur. Then we started construction of the new ash dump at Krasnokamensk CHP and reconstruction of PIMCU’s Sredneye tailings dump, as well as Khiagda’s Istochnoye field development project.
Implementation of future plans in the field of process and construction engineering is associated with the largest enterprise of the mining arm of Rosatom – PIMCU. Currently VNIPIpromtekhnologii is finalizing the construction project of the most advanced mine of our country’s largest uranium mining enterprise.
Naturally, the entire history of VNIPIpromtekhnologii was recalled during the celebrations. The Institute was established on April 17, 1951 to address uranium mining problems within the framework of the "Atomic Project of the USSR." Veterans told about the design of high-capacity plants, mines, hydrometallurgical plants, housing communities and towns, and associated infrastructure. The first such plant was the Leninabad Combine; then Navoiysky, Tselinny, Kyrgyzsky, Vostochny, Prikaspiysky, Zabaikalsky, and finally Priargunsky (now PIMCU PJSC) mining and concentration complexes were designed and built.
Speaking about "non-core" achievements, the Scientific Secretary of VNIPIpromtekhnologii Evgeny Kamnev noted: "Our expert teams have successfully worked in Libya and South Yemen, being engaged in the design of desalination plants to produce drinking water from the sea. We designed gas turbines, mobile membrane desalination devices and even milk powder plants near Moscow. Two pressure chambers created for the fist time in the All-USSR Center for Hyperbaric Oxygenation were made using our design".
"Today we have a clear niche in the market and our expertise allows us to hold it fast and develop continuously. We have sufficient amount of the main resource – educated professionals. And we handle external projects without hurting our internal customers, the mining arm of Rosatom. In addition, within the framework of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co., our income has a positive effect on the total cost of the metal. We are trusted by customers, and we strive to meet their expectations. And we do not want to stop there, we are going to grow and develop,"- said the Director of VNIPIpromtekhnologii Yuri Dmitrak.
