Alexey Demidov represents the mining division of Rosatom State owned corporation at WorldSkills Competition held from October 30 to November 3, 2015 in Ekaterinbourg


WorldSkills Hi-Tech, a competition of universal Hi-Tech industrial professionals, is beginning tomorrow. It is the largest professional skill tournament in Russia for young workers from the biggest Russian industrial enterprises aged below 28 and for juniors aged between 10 and 17 — a coming relay being trained at educational institutions under the patronage of industrial enterprises.

Traditionally, the competition is hosted by Sverdlovsk region as an industirially developed and economically active region which was one of the first to support the WorldSkills mouvement in Russia. The competition is going to be held in Ekaterinbourg at the international exhibition center Ekaterinbourg-EXPO where a hundred teams sponsored by the below named companies will meet: Rosatom, Rostech, United Rocket and Space Corporation, United Aircraft Corporation, United Shipbuilding Corporation, Evraz, Basic Element, Chelyabinsk Pipe - Rolling Plant, Uralvagonzavod, Rosneft, Gazpromneft, Tatneft, Bashneft and others.

During the preparatives, the united Rosatom’s team collected 65 applications from the corporation divisions’teams for 9 skills: Automated Design, Welding,  Digitally Controled Lathe Turning, Mechatronics, Digitally Controled Milling, Network and System Administration, Electronics and  Electric Installation while this year the competion will be held for 24 skills in total.

The Network and System Administration skills of the mining division of Rosatom State owned corporation will be represented at the tournament by Alexey Dimidov, Leading Expert of IT group of RUSBURMASH JSC. He has not only shown himself the most enthusiatic candidate but also passed a very severe skill-based selection. “Invitation to take part in the competion was a great surprise to me. Not before the coaching started that I could get a chance to see the skill level of my colleagues, the professionalism of my tutors and the opportunities the Corporation opens for the young employees. I will be faced to hard but interesting tasks namely to pass the trial by three ‘islands’:  Cisco, Windows, Linux. On each of them I will have to resolve a number of problems. I hope to point a high score”, Alexey told.

The preparatives passed in a limited deadline. To achieve the maximal impact in training and coaching, Rosatom’s Corporate Academy sent the team members to WorldSkills training centers having all adequate equipment.

The overall gathering of the team was the closing stage of the preparatives: all the participants and experts gathered together for a psychological training to enhance skills of effective interaction participant – expert, to learn to manage time and pressure. Besides, the team members learned secrets of communicating with mass media, got a positive charge of energy and tuned themselves to win.

The General Director of Rosatom State owned corporation S.V. Kirienko arrived to support the members of the team. He answered their questions, shared his observations about Sao Paolo WorldSkills and his personal experience of participating in competitions, outlined further plans of developing the professional skill mouvement withing the Corporation. Rosatom’s Head particularly stressed on how important attending WorldSkills is for the Corporation and the industry as a whole. He encouraged the members of the team to not give up. “The winner is who gives up a second latter”, he said.
