Khiagda, JSC optimized opening schemes for ore bodies via 3D modeling
On October 10, 2018, Khiagda, JSC (subsidiary of the ARMZ Uranium Holding Co./Mining Division of the ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation), as part of the Smart Mine project, began construction and assembly work at the Istochny deposit (Bauntovsky-Evenki District, Republic of Buryatia).
The software complexes will help the enterprise to reliably assess the mining and geological situation on developed sites of the field, simulate the options of development, conduct accurate analysis of performed work, promptly make decisions in the analysis and forecast of field development, geological modeling and mining planning. Due to transition to 3D modeling, Khiagda, JSC has already succeeded in significant optimization of the opening schemes for ore bodies, reducing the mining and polygon operation costs.
Primary work on installation of new equipment should be completed by the end of October. Currently, racks for flow meters and control panels, cables, communication lines are being installed. The next stage is installation and adjustment of software together with the specialists of the Seversk Technological Institute of the NRNU MEPhI.
“Today we are implementing innovations that in the near future will allow us to talk about a new model of mining production. Online access to remote equipment, instant information processing and other new features will allow us to make decisions quickly and eliminate abnormal situations. Our task is to ‘digitize’ all stages of the borehole in-situ leaching cycle and transfer the control to intelligent IT system,” said the project curator, representative of the IT Directorate of Atomredmetzoloto, JSC Roman Rudin.
The implementation of the Smart Mine project will allow to automatically collect and process large amount of digital geological, geophysical and geotechnological data in online mode at the stage of mining. The data will allow to determine the optimal modes of development of operating blocks in order to ensure the maximum economic efficiency of the enterprise.
It is planned that in the future, the Smart Mine will be implemented at other deposits of Vitimsky ore field, developed by Khiagda, JSC, as well as at Dalur, JSC (subsidiary of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.), a strategic metal mining company in the Kurgan region.
