A new crushing and grading complex was commissioned at the Central ore stock yard of PJSC PIMCU hydrometallurgy plant
The cost of equipment and installation works amounted to approximately 26 mln.RUB. However, economic effect from project implementation will be up to 50 mln. RUR per year due to reduced uranium ore processing costs and increased recovery coefficient from 75% to 85%.
“The new complex will enable to grind ore to a finer fraction than before. This significantly accelerates the process of its subsequent impregnation with solutions on the heap leaching site and raises metal recovery coefficient. This year, in addition to the schedule, we plan to produce around 20 tons of uranium oxide concentrate”, - explains Victor Gorbunov, director of PIMCU hydrometallurgy plant.
The project was implemented thanks to well-coordinated team work of many divisions of the association. Employees of the Central Research Laboratory developed a technology and conducted laboratory and pilot tests. Installers of the construction and repair workshop of the PIMCU Production Support Directorate performed construction and installation works in a qualitative manner. Aleksey Vishnyakov, No.4 shop manager of the Hydrometallurgy plant noted that personnel is trained and ready to bring the complex to the design capacity – process up to 500 thous. ore tons per year.
“Another project for comprehensive production efficiency increase- construction of the concentrate re-crushing complex of the X-ray ore-concentration plant. Conveyers, cone and jaw crushers will be installed at 360 sq.m of the room. Its production capacity will make up one and a half million ore tons per year. As a matter of fact, we are modifying the ore flow diagram which will enable to reduce costs at ore dressing, leaching and sorption process stages.
The cost of ore processing and, consequently, of finished products will be reduced”- told Sergey Shurygin, general director of PJSC PIMCU.
