Interregional motocross and rapid chess championships held in Krasnokamensk
Riders from Chita, Irkutsk, Shelekhov, Ulan-Ude and Krasnokamensk took part in the motocross competition on a track specially prepared on the Argun stadium. Alexander Martemyanov from Chita took first place in the Open Class, Krasnokamensk resident Nikolai Grigoriev was the second, Sergei Zavyazkin from Chita came third. All of them were Candidates Master of Sports. Sergey Nadin, Master of Sports from Chita took the first place among sports veterans. Valery Martemyanov, Master of Sports of International Class, repeated champion of the Soviet Union from Chia was the second at the end of two races. Candidate Master of Sports Yevgeny Arefiev from Ulan Ude came third.
Open Rapid Chess Championship was held in the military-patriotic club Zarnitsa of the primary trade union organization of PIMCU. 39 chess players from Chita, Krasnokamensk, Priargunsk and Zabaikalsk took place in the competition. The chief referee was Yuri Mikhailov, FIDE Master of Sports.
The players competed in a Swiss tournament in 11 rounds. At the end of the two-day chess battles, the first prize went to Chita resident Alexander Yastrebov (8.5 points). The second was Ruslan Salayev (Chita, 8 points), the third was Krasnokamensk resident Alexander Kalinin (8 points).
The winners of the championships were awarded with cups, diplomas, medals and monetary prizes funded by PIMCU.
