Winners of the Third Youth Educational Forum ECOLINE-2013 announced
On October 19, Krasnokamensk’s Dauria Community Centre hosted the award ceremony of the Third Youth Educational Forum ECOLINE-2013, jointly organized by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. and Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union (JSC PIMCU) for the third successive year.
The Forum’s main objective is to contribute to promoting active civil stand and socially responsible attitudes among young people. Traditionally, ECOLINE involves a number of contests aimed at developing participants’ creativity and creating conditions for their self-fulfilment.
This year, the Forum moved on to a regional level. Along with pupils of Krasnokamensk’s schools, gymnasia and vocational schools, who often take part in these contests, residents of Chita and other settlements in the Trans-Baikal Territory applied to participate as well. In 2013, total number of the Forum’s participants exceeded 2,500 people.
This time, ECOLINE included three contests: youth photography contest ECOART, youth social video contest “Under SOS Sign”, and journalistic essay contest “Slovo” (“Word”).
Age of participants in the ECOART youth photography competition ranged from 12 to 35 years. Winners were selected in three nomination categories: “Such Job”, featuring portrait photographs devoted to major and most popular professions in Krasnokamensk; “Geometry of My Town”, offering participants a chance to show familiar urban areas from a new and unusual perspective; and “Chasing Time”, which suggested staged photography with an antique object being the main composition element. Popularity of this competition is consistently growing. The number of papers submitted for ECOART increased from 350 in 2011 to more than 1,100 in 2012 and reached 4,000 in the current year.
In accordance with rules of the journalistic contest “Word”, participants had to prepare an essay on one of the topics proposed by the organizers: History that I Can Change (My Active Civil Position), Searching for a Hero! (Who is a Hero of Our Time?), About Love. This is the first year when contestants could submit works written in verse.
Participants of the youth social video contest “Under SOS Sign” could contend individually or form teams of up to three persons. Winners were selected in the following three categories: “Fathers and Sons”, devoted to such issues as generation gap problems and preservation of family values; “Without Alcohol”, featuring video ads promoting healthy lifestyle; and “One Day in Life”, in which it was required to tell people about one day of any JSC PIMCU’s division or their employees. This year, the competition received more than 250 papers against 70 in 2012. Application deadline was October 11. Afterwards, an expert board composed of representatives from the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts, considered and assessed received materials, compiling long lists of contestants. On their basis, expectant winners were selected and included into short lists.
On October 19, names of the prize winners were announced from stage of the Dauria Centre. ARMZ and PIMCU handed out tablet computers, mobile telephones, cameras, and MP3 players to the winners.
The honouring ceremonies alternated with performances presented on stage of the Dauria Centre by specially invited Forum’s guests – artists of the Mimikriya youth theatre from Tyumen, who explore a genre that synthesizes plastic theatre with other forms of art. Members of the Dauria creativity studios – theatre of modern dance “Igla” (“Needle”), experimental stilt-walker theatre “Vyshe Oblakov” (“Above Clouds”), and vocal studio “Art Music” – also showed their performances.
