RUSBURMASH Began Hydrological Survey for Uranium Mine Construction in Trans-Baikal Territory
The survey is required for further development of the project concerning the drainage of ore field of mine No. 6 currently under construction. Implementation of the investment project «Development of Argunskoye and Zherlovoye fields (Construction of Mine No. 6)» will provide the nuclear industry with strategically important material and maintain jobs at the larges uranium producer in the country, E.P. Slavsky Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union, PJSC, controlled by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. As part of the hydrogeological survey, RUSBURMASH, JSC will cut four wells for the total volume of 2028 rm, prepare and release a geological report containing recommendations.
Currently experts of Section No. 2 of RUSBURMASH, JSC have begun cutting the hydrogeological survey well. In the completed interval above 200 m, they have carried out hydrogeological development and took samples to test chemical and radiological parameters of the groundwater. Currently drill-hole cores are being tested while complex geophysical surveys are already finished. All works are carried out strictly under environmental regulations. Groundwater samples will be subsequently sent to specialized labs.
These hydrogeological surveys will provide data on location and magnitude of aquifers, specifics of filtration variability of the soil in the environment of long-term «wet» field suspension, etc. Overground infrastructure at the site of Mine no. 6 is currently under construction. Main stepdown substation that provides power to the entire complex has already been completed and the automobile road has been commissioned. Mine waters treatment facility construction is currently underway. The first section of Mine no. 6 should begin operations in 2023.
