ARMZ: Third Professional Skills Mining Divisional Competition of ROSATOM Ended in Chita

This year, for the first time, the competition was hosted by Khiagda, JSC, which develops uranium deposits in the territory of the Bauntovsky-Evenki District of the Republic of Buryatia. The venues for the competition were equipped according to WorldSkills international standards. One of the most spectacular was the competition program for special vehicle drivers. They passed the exam on the knowledge of the traffic rules and the transport of dangerous goods, demonstrated the skills of first aid to the victim and overcame the obstacle course on the all-terrain bus. One of the main challenges was the harsh Trans-Baikal weather, but the support of the spectators helped the participants. «The level of organization was high; the refereeing was fair and transparent. Our drivers showed impeccable driving skills and good training. It should be noted that the gap between the results was minimal, which indicates the level of professionalism of the participants. In the end, Dmitry Chikishev, the driver of the PIMCU, took the first place,» said Vyacheslav Semenov, director of the PIMCU’s United motor transport service.

During the competition, occupational safety specialists demonstrated knowledge of safety culture and first aid rules, investigated the accident, and made a plan for the effective functioning of the OSH management system. Also, each participant had to present a behavioral audit. The winner in this competence was Denis Strembitsky (Khiagda, JSC). At the working site of welders, in the literal sense of the word, sparks flew. According to the participants and experts, the most complex module was the so-called «kettle»: a pressure vessel that is welded in three ways (manual arc welding, semi-automatic and argon arc welding). It took 18 hours for each participant to complete all assembly and welding operations. And for the second year in a row, Vasily Dynenkov, the underground electric and gas welder of the directorate for supporting the production of the PIMCU, became the winner.

Chemical analysis lab assistants determined the aluminum content in the solution by the metric method, phosphate ions — by photometric one, and milk protein — by potentiometric method. «The execution of the modules requires constant attention. All the participants performed very masterfully, but Anna Yakovleva, a representative of Khiagda, JSC, became the best,» said Yulia Krasnoperova, expert, chemical technologist at Khiagda, JSC.

The in-situ leaching shop of Khiagda, JSC became a platform for competitions in «Dosimetrist» competence. Contestants participated in the «radiation sprint», determining the sources and parameters of the radiation against the clock, carried out radiation monitoring of vehicles, solved test tasks, etc. Among dosimetrists there were no equal to Alexander Vdovin (Dalur, JSC).

The best professionals of the Mining Division were congratulated by the First Deputy Director General, Executive Director of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co., Victor Svyatetskiy: «I am glad that we managed to create a united highly professional team of the Mining Division. Those are the specialists who should show a high result at the AtomSkills-2019 in Yekaterinburg in June of this year».

At the closing ceremony of the competition, the captain of the team of Khiagda, JSC handed the ARMZSkills flag to the captain of the team of Dalur, JSC. This means that next year the competition of professional skills among the enterprises of the Mining Division will be held in the Kurgan region.
