The First Ore Mining Company Took Part in Panel Section of «Arctic: Territory of Dialogue» Forum

On April 9, 2019 in St. Petersburg, Igor Semenov, Executive Director of The First Ore Mining Company, JSC, took part in the panel section «Extracting Solid Mineral Deposits in the Arctic: Increasing Investment Appeal», which was held as part of the V International Arctic Forum «The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue». The section discussed the specifics of geological exploration and challenges that will be faced during the development of solid mineral deposits in the Arctic.
In his report, Igor Semenov voiced approaches to increasing the investment attractiveness of the Arctic mining projects based on innovative technical solutions. As an alternative to the standard project, it is proposed to place thickening plant and power generating facilities on the production and utilities barge, with the possibility of its subsequent towing to the field and replicating this solution in the coastal zone of the Arctic Ocean.
«The use of towed barges will not only expand the presence of Russian companies in the region, but also make their business more competitive, and make the subsoil use facilities investment-attractive,» emphasized Igor Semenov.
The participants of the section noted that such an innovative approach to the development of the North could be the path of the future. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Head of Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra) Evgeny Kiselev, Senior Vice President for Government Relations of Kinross Gold Corporation Michiel van Akkooi, Senior Arctic Official and Director General for Circumpolar Affairs and Eastern Europe & Eurasia Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada Alison LeClaire, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AEON Corporation Roman Trotsenko, Director General of the Regional Mining Company, LLC Victor Kudinov and Director General of AGD Diamonds Sergey Neruchev.
