SAPE-2019 Sochi Exhibition: Mining Division of ROSATOM Presented Innovative Technologies Ensuring Safety of Miners

«Safety is one of the core values of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation, which is of paramount importance to us. We are doing everything possible to reduce the level of risk both underground and in above-ground industrial complexes. We pay special attention to ensuring safe working conditions, automation, and implementation of the most modern technologies,» said Vladimir Verkhovtsev, Director General of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.

In particular, the underground mines of the largest uranium mining enterprise in Russia — E.P. Slavsky PIMCU, PJSC — are equipped with systems of mining and underground communication and positioning of personnel and equipment to ensure the general safety of mining operations and prevent emergency situations, and to quickly locate people in case of emergency. The «Geodynamic site» project — a multi-level system for monitoring the behavior of underground rocks, designed to predict and prevent rock bumps — is being implemented at Streltsovskoye ore field being developed by the association. As part of Streltsovskoye ore field project, sensors for ground-based GPS navigation, acoustics, and seismic survey have been installed. The information gathered from them allows determining the areas dangerous for production, forecasting the behavior of these areas and take measures aimed at preventing accidents.

At enterprises engaged in uranium extraction using in-situ leaching — Dalur, JSC and Khiagda, JSC — a single digital platform for the life cycle of exploration and production of solid minerals is being implemented. The software complexes help the enterprise to reliably assess the mining and geological situation on developed sites of deposits, simulate the options of development, conduct accurate analysis of performed work, promptly make decisions in the analysis and forecast of field development, geological modeling and planning. A very important step in the creation of a digital platform, which is implemented at the very beginning, is the Smart Helmets system. It allows to increase the level of physical safety of employees in the workplace. The helmets with a built-in positioning module based on GPS trackers are capable of transmitting a signal to the dispatcher in case an employee falling or receiving a blow, warning of dangerous «red zones», and also allow to monitor the location of people indoors and outdoors. It is also planned to provide workers of the uranium mining enterprises with bracelets that have built-in pulse and body temperature sensors. If necessary, such a bracelet can transmit an alarm signal to the control room in the absence of other means of communication.

Today, the exhibition stand of the Mining Division was visited by the Director General of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation Alexey Likhachev. He found out more about the whole complex of the developments that make it possible to maximally secure the work of the miners.

Does anyone else use cookies on ARMZ websites?
Advertisers sometimes use their own cookies to provide you with targeted advertising. Do we track whether users open our emails?
Our emails may contain a single, campaign-unique “web beacon pixel” to tell us whether, and how many times, our emails are opened and verify any clicks through to links or advertisements within the email. We may use this information for purposes including determining which of our emails are more interesting to users, to query whether users who do not open our emails wish to continue receiving them, to check that content is being used in accordance with our terms and conditions, and to inform our advertisers in aggregate how many users have clicked on their advertisements. The pixel will be deleted when you delete the email. If you do not wish the pixel to be downloaded to your device, you should select to receive emails from us in plain text rather than HTML.
