Government of Trans-Baikal Territory: Working Meeting of Alexander Osipov and Vladimir Verkhovtsev

The further development of the «uranium capital» of Russia — Krasnokamensk and the Krasnokamensk district — were discussed at the meeting. Alexander Osipov, in particular, noted the continual contacts of the Territory authorities and the Mining Division on the topic: «Over the past two weeks, this is my second personal meeting with Vladimir Verkhovtsev. First of all, we are discussing Mine No. 6 construction. The schedule is implemented without disruptions. Besides, our task is to maximize the spread of the Far Eastern development mechanisms in Krasnokamensk and Krasnokamensk district. Together with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, work is underway to create a priority development territory in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the city and district will become one of the PDT sites. This gives more opportunities for the development. Even today, five investment projects have been developed for Krasnokamensk, we will increase their number in order to diversify the economy and create new jobs.»
«Cities like Krasnokamensk are the state backbone. We assume that the city must stand forever; people must be provided with work. Therefore, we are diversifying production, which is aimed at creating new jobs,» added Vladimir Verkhovtsev.
The heads of the region and ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. did not bypass the topic of the arrest of the Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union (E.P. Slavsky PIMCU, PJSC, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. subsidiary) Director General on suspicion of bribery. Alexander Osipov and Vladimir Verkhovtsev made a joint statement on this topic. At the media briefing, the ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. Director General, in particular, said: «The case that occurred at PIMCU is, of course, a severe blow to the image of the enterprise. In the marine terms, this is „a hole below the waterline“. But we have already taken all the necessary measures both to ensure industrial safety and to maintain the control. Thus, it did not affect the production process.» Vladimir Verkhovtsev emphasized that Mine No. 6 construction is in accordance with the schedule. Work on the main step-down substation has been completed, a road to the mine has been built, and construction of mine water treatment facilities has begun. The plan for the uranium and coal production is certainly being carried out. Diversification projects are ongoing. Chief Engineer Ivan Kiselev is now the Acting Director General of PIMCU.
«The main thing for us is that such cases be detected on time and decisions are made on time, which ultimately makes such a thing unacceptable in the future. Therefore, the key task for us is to thoroughly check the whole situation, to find out what and where else it requires purging, to make the correct HR appointments. I am sure that all HR decisions will be made correctly, the procedures will be changed, and as a result, a secure, decent system of work will be created,» added Alexander Osipov. He noted that the Territory authorities «worked, work and will work with law enforcement and regulatory authorities». «For us today, the most important thing is to implement social programs for the city development. These are activities for the Krasnokamensk improvement, the creation of favorable living conditions. This work is carried out by the forces of the Territory government, the district and the city administration. I am sure that we will do everything in this part,» concluded the briefing the Acting Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory.
