«The Atom Helps Us to Build and Live» Poetry Contest Summed Up

The divisional poetry contest brought together 40 authors from different cities and regions of the ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. operation. These are people of different professions, from different time zones, who are connected by a common cause and love of poetry. The contest was held with the following categories: «The atom helps us to build and live», «Uranium production is not a walk across a field», «I love ARMZ and hope it is mutual», «My city is the best». A special children’s category was also established. The jury was headed by Alexander Burutin, Deputy Director General for Strategy, Atomredmetzoloto, JSC, also Andrey Cheremisinov, Director, Communications Department, ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation, Anna Gedymin, poetess, member of the Russian Union of Writers and others gave their grades to the poems.
«Creativity lives within each of us. Sometimes it is worthwhile to stop in the daily rush and look at your work from a different angle. I am glad that the initiative found a response among our colleagues. This shows that our daily routine is more than just work for us, we draw inspiration from it,» said Alexander Burutin.
The best verses from the contest are dedicated to hard mining work, the dynasties of miners, who transfer experience and knowledge from generation to generation. A whole series of works is about geologists and their by no means romantic, but intense and demanding workdays. An ode to the VNIPIpromtechnologii was written by the enterprise Scientific Supervisor Evgeny Kamnev. Reflections on the topic «What is a peaceful atom» or «Why dad is not home» are presented in the works of children.
Anna Gedymin: «It seems to me that this contest has a potential and is very promising. Describing the events of their life, its participants record the history of nuclear power industry enterprises, with which they are inextricably linked. So, a priceless historical and biographical document is born before our very eyes. There was only one difficulty in choosing the best verses — which text should be preferred: more sincere, vital, or more technically perfect? Because, in poetry, feeling, fact, and poetic mastery are equally important.» The winners in their categories are Lyubov Nesolenova (operator, Mining and Metallurgical Plant, PIMCU, PJSC), Svetlana Melnikova (wife of Vladimir Melnikov, Director General Advisor, ARMZ, JSC), Evgeny Kamnev (Scientific Supervisor, VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC), Victoria Dolina (Head of CSR and Non-financial Reporting, ARMZ, JSC), Daria and Taras Tregub (family of Anatoly Tregub, Deputy Chief Engineer, Head of the In-situ Leaching Shop, Khiagda, JSC).
Following the contest, the poetry of Svetlana Melnikova was recognized as the best one. She wrote a sensitive and soulful verse about the miner workdays. They formed the basis of the video that shows the ARMZ top managers reading out the quatrains, the video was watched by 500 Krasnokamensk residents at a solemn concert on the Miner’s Day, and more than 5,000 people on social networks. This and other videos with the works of our poets can be found on Instagram / Facebook using the hashtag #наматомстроитьижитьпомогает. Besides, the works will be published in the «Vestnik ARMZ». The award ceremony itself took place at a divisional sports festival — the ARMZ Spartakiad. The authors read out their verses, the well-deserved awards were presented to them by Director General Vladimir Verkhovtsev. He noted: «We have many talented people who submitted their works to the contest. We will continue to implement such projects in the concept of celebrating the 75th anniversary of the nuclear power industry».
