Russian Federation Civic Chamber Representatives Visited Dalur
The working trip has taken place in the framework of the «Community» forum. Its participants examine the most successful illustrations of social investments in the development of the Trans-Urals, work out new programs and projects, and become acquainted with the work of socially responsible enterprises.
The members of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation visited the main production facilities of Dalur, JSC: in-situ leaching site, the main building, and the associated scandium mining site. Director General of the company Nikolay Poponin told the guests about the uranium mining technology: «Since the opening of the first field, which is Dalmatovskoye deposit, in the Kurgan region in 1979, no accidents related to the operation of our company have been recorded. One of the important components of that is the use of in-situ leaching that is safe both for people and the environment. Indeed, if we compare that technology with mining in open pits and in underground mines significant advantages are evident. No change in the geological state of the subsoil happens, since the mining mass is not extracted. There are no land subsidence and damaging of the earth’s surface, balance ore dumps and waste rocks, as well as no tailings ponds. The natural radioactivity of the ore body remains deep beneath the ground.»
The questions of the guests have been focused, in particular, on social and labor relations. Nikolay Poponin said that all of the social programs of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation operate at Dalur, JSC. Every year, the management and the Council of Workers sign a Collective Agreement: the main document regulating the aspects of social and labor relations between employees and the employer. «In 2019 only, our expenses for VMI programs, health-resort treatments, improvement of workers’ housing conditions, support for non-working pensioners, vocational training, and other expenses exceeded RUB 25 million. The last indexation of wages — by 10% — was carried out from January 1, 2020,» emphasized Director General.
The members of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation also became acquainted with the main social programmes of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. in the territory of the Kurgan region. «It’s so good to see that there are environmentally and socially responsible enterprises in the Trans-Urals that work for ensuring sustainable development and improvement in the quality of peoples’ lives,» said Marina Sergeeva, a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and an ecologist.
