Alexander Osipov, Trans-Baikal Territory Governor, Visited PIMCU Facilities

At the construction site of the mine water treatment plant of Mine No. 6 (MWTP), Director General of PIMCU Ivan Kiselev reported: «Currently all the main equipment has been installed, buildings are in place, and pipelines have been laid. Facility construction and installation work is nearing completion. We plan to make a test run of the MWTP this September. In addition, mining and capital works on the substructure have started at Mine No. 6 construction site».

Answering the Governor questions, Ivan Kiselev noted that the available reserves allow to continue the uranium production in existing mines until 2030, therefore, there are no discussions about job cuts. On the contrary, about 100 people have already been hired to operate and maintain the MWTP. The commander of PIMCU independent paramilitary mountain rescue team, Chairman of the People’s Council of the Krasnokamensk District, Igor Mudrak, thanked the Head of Trans-Baikal Territory for supporting priority projects for the city, including allocation of funds for the construction of a sports and recreation amenity. «Krasnokamensk holds a special place in Trans-Baikal Territory and is strategically important for Russia, for the country’s atomic industry. The second largest city in the Territory, along with the city-forming enterprise, which is the largest taxpayer, serves as the guarantor of stability for the entire region. In recent years, the social climate has improved. And we must keep this pace,» said Igor Mudrak.

He also spoke about the activities of the People’s Council, the initiatives of residents: «The People’s Council brought together representatives of various fields of activity. It consists of employees of the housing and communal services, and regional hospital, members of public councils of the city and region, volunteers, representatives of the Youth Council, and the primary trade union organization of the PIMCU, and entrepreneurs. The new social structure puts forward initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for people, solving existing problems. This includes the construction of an amusement park in Krasnokamensk, the improvement of public transport, the availability of medical care, the greening of city streets, the erection of a monument to miners and much more.»

The Head of Trans-Baikal Territory also attended cadet classes at school No. 1, opened two years ago with the support of PIMCU. In summer, the children play paintball and work out. The governor wished the pupils excellent study and good health. «Most important, I wish you to fulfill your dream and be admitted to higher military educational institutions,» said Alexander Osipov. As a gift to the cadets, he handed a modern audio system for dance and music classes. At the polling station No. 1906, operating in the Dauria Palace of Culture of PIMCU, the Chairman of the Krasnokamensk Territorial Electoral Commission Oleg Shestopalov spoke about the process of voting on amendments to the Constitution of Russia, noting that all measures have been taken to ensure the convenience and safety of people. Alexander Osipov expressed confidence that the residents of the «uranium capital» will fulfill their civic duty and will certainly come to polling stations.

«The amendments to the Constitution are meant to protect social interests, even out the process of development of territories, and make impossible any weakening of the country and the deterioration of the social well-being of citizens. Therefore, I consider all these amendments to be extremely important, especially for the Trans-Baikal Territory,» said the Governor.

After visiting the construction site of the sports and recreation amenity, the public garden near the Argun gym with landscaping underway and other social facilities, the Head of Trans-Baikal Territory expressed confidence that all work will be completed as scheduled. «All the projects currently implementing in Krasnokamensk clearly illustrate our particular attention to the „uranium capital“. This will never change,» emphasized Alexander Osipov.
