AtomSkills-2020 Professional Championship: Nine Winner Medals for ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.

On August 20th, Novovoronezh summarized the results of AtomSkills-2020, the 5th WorldSkills-based sectoral championship of professional skills powered by Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation. ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. won nine winner medals, including eight silver medals and one bronze medal, for the first time ever in the history of the championship. A silver medal was awarded to Vasiliy Dynenkov, an electric and gas welder at PIMCU, PJSC. This was the first and long-awaited triumph in the Welding Techniques competence. Moreover, there are as many as seven silver medals won in the Analytical Control competence by Anna Yakovleva, Tatyana Ganzhurova, Anna Dneprovskaya, and Yulia Krasnoperova of Khiagda, JSC and Yelena Volozhanina, Natalya Selezneva, and Anastasia Silkina of PIMCU, PJSC.
The third place with the bronze winner medal was won by Darya Safonova (VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC) in the Budgeting and Cost Estimation. A good result was achieved by the designer team of ARMZ scientific institution in the Engineering Design competence. The guys had been already awarded the strongly wished first-place medals two years ago and in 2020 the team was recognized as the best of all the participating teams.
The closing ceremony of the championship, which was held on the square near the Star of Glory monument dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, was attended by industry leaders, including Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, Alexander Lokshin and Ivan Kamenskikh as the First Deputies to Director General for Operations Management of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, and Tatyana Terentyeva, HR Director of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation.
During the closing ceremony, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev addressed to participants of the championship, live from the Victory Museum square on the Poklonnaya Hill: «Today is a landmark and a very important day for the entire nuclear industry. Exactly 75 years ago, on August 20, 1945, the authorities took a historic decision to establish the First Chief Atomic Energy Directorate. This was the beginning of the Atomic Energy Project in the country. Since then, the word ‘first’ has become inherent in the genetic code of the Soviet and Russian nuclear professionals. This leadership and record-setting quality continues to exist today, as well».
It should be reminded that the championship was held online because of the pandemic outbreak. They had elaborated the AtomSkills competition structure that would meet the new challenges and circumstances and altered the competition tasks accordingly. In the year of the 75th anniversary of the nuclear industry, all activities within the fifth edition of the championship took place in an open format under the ‘Fair Play’ motto.
Everyone who wished: Russian workers and engineering professionals over the age of 18 years, including those employed in the industry, college and university students, and specialists in other manufacturing companies, has taken part in the championship in 2020. A total of more than 1,400 people submitted their online applications via atomskills2020.ru during the bid campaign.
