3,000+ Krasnokamensk Residents Gathered for Roll Call of Nuclear Cities
The celebration ceremony began with the anthem of the nuclear cities «We Are Keeping This World Safe», which was sung by those who reside and toil in Rosatom’s cities, cherish their past, who live at their present moment, and who will build their future.
In his felicitation speech broadcast at the teleconference, Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, thanked the old professionals of the industry and pointed out the biggest achievements reached by Rosatom through which the atomic energy industry nowadays serves as a firm guarantee of the national defense capability and energy security in Russia.
The congratulations from Vladimir Verkhovtsev, Director General of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co., who had arrived in Krasnokamensk, were broadcast from a depth of about one kilometer. In particular, he said that: «Here, at the underground mine of the Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union, we see the starting point of the nuclear fuel chain. More than two thousand miners are engaged in extracting uranium, a metal of strategic importance, to ensure the nuclear and energy independence of the Russian Federation. On behalf of our entire huge team, I congratulate our colleagues in all nuclear cities on their professional holiday! In the Trans-Baikal Territory, uranium has been mined for 52 years and we guarantee that Rosatom’s enterprises will never run out of the raw material. The employees of Khiagda, JSC and Dalur, JSC, who produce the strategic metal in the Republic of Buryatia and in the Urals, join me with these words. We take on the subsoil every day, and this year, when the whole world has reduced the production program, the enterprises within ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. have been demonstrating a 100% achievement to prove once again that miners are extraordinary people. The most glorious pages in the history of the peaceful nuclear energy are certainly added by the miners of Krasnokamensk. It is these brave strong-minded people of a special character and physical endurance who have mined from the earth many thousands of tons of natural uranium and built many a kilometer of mine workings. New uranium mine number 6, the future of Krasnokamensk, is being built here today and in a few years they will raise the first tons of ore sourced from the Argunskoye and Zherlovoye fields. On the anniversary days, we have some kind words to say about the veterans, the honored miners, Stal Sergeevich Pokrovsky, who was the first director of the enterprise, and others. We need to be like steel so that we’ll do it right! Thank you for your hard work and dedication!»
The series of congratulations was continued by Mikhail Churkin, Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Larisa Sizykh, Acting Head of the Krasnokamensk District, and Krasnokamensk Mayor Igor Mudrak.
After that, the inhabitants of the ‘uranium capital’ were greeted by Moscow guests, contestants of the ATOM NEARBY competition, which was organized to commemorate the anniversary of the nuclear industry, while the art marathon included the performances by Irina Kokhanskaya, a soloist of the Dauria Palace of Culture, the municipal band known as Rodniki Zabaikalya (‘Springs of the Trans-Baikal Territory), and special guests: the Russian musician and singer Alexey Petrukhin and the Burrito band.
