PIMCU Continues Capital Mining Operations of Productive Underground Uranium Mines

The next operational treatment unit was put into operation at Mine No. 8. In 2021, it is planned to commission three more units at Mine No. 8 and three units at Mine No. 1. This will make it possible to additionally produce min. 1,000 tons of uranium ore.
The units are put into operation by employees of the Shaft-Sinking Department and shaft men of underground mines, who make preparatory mine openings. The timbermen of the sections of mining and stowing operations install stowing pipelines. Compressed air, process water, electricity are supplied, stationary and portable lighting is installed and connected in accordance with the projects. New treatment units will be provided with emergency exits in accordance with applicable federal rules and regulations in industrial safety.
«The commissioning of new production facilities allows for the stable operation of PIMCU. It is planned to produce strategic metal at Mine No. 1 until 2030, and until 2035 at Mine No. 8» says Ivan Kiselev, Director General of PIMCU, PJSC.
The construction of a new Mine No. 6 at the Argunskoye and Zherlovoye deposits of the Streltsovskoye ore field will ensure further development of PIMCU and Krasnokamensk. The design capacity of Mine No. 6 is 850,000 tons of ore per year. The construction work began in 2018 and is progressing according to the schedule.
