Delegation of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation Visited PIMCU
During a working trip to the Trans-Baikal Territory, a delegation from the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEADC) visited the Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union (E.P. Slavsky PIMCU, PJSC, subsidiary of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co./Mining Division of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation).
PIMCU being the resident of the Krasnokamensk priority development territory is implementing the «Development of the Argunskoye and Zherlovoye fields (Construction of Mine No. 6)» project. The new industrial complex will make it possible to consistently supply the nuclear industry with strategic raw materials.
The FEADC delegation included Igor Nosov, First Deputy Director General for the Development of Priority Territories, Evgeny Nikolaychuk, Deputy Director General for Construction and Infrastructure, Dina Arkhipenko, Head of the Trans-Baikal Priority Development Territory Management Company (FEADC subsidiary), Ilya Akishin, Acting Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Trans-Baikal Territory — Minister of Planning and Development, and others.
Ivan Kiselev, Director General of PIMCU, PJSC, told the following about the PIMCU activities: «The main activity is underground uranium ore production. Also, open pit mining of brown coal is carried out at the Urtuyskoye deposit. By the end of 2020, the team of PIMCU met all the main indicators for the production and processing of ore, and for finished products output. During the coronavirus pandemic, production did not stop».
Further development prospects of PIMCU and Krasnokamensk are associated with Mine No. 6. Currently, the creation of the new industrial complex infrastructure has been completed: a mine water treatment plant (MWTP), an underground equalization tank, pumping stations, a fire station, an administration and accommodation block, and other facilities have been built. The construction of surface tipple complexes is underway. «The approved schedule for further work will allow the construction of Mine No. 6 to be completed on time,» Ivan Kiselev states with confidence. The Director General of PIMCU noted the project support by the Government of Russia, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, and regional authorities.
In turn, Igor Nosov said that the purpose of his visit to the largest uranium mining enterprise of the Russian nuclear industry is to get acquainted on the spot with the current problems associated with the development of the enterprise, the urban environment, training new personnel, as well as to jointly discuss the ways to solve them. After the meeting at the administrative office of PIMCU, the guests of the «uranium capital» visited the underground mine workings of the operating Mine No. 8, and got acquainted with the ore production process, the mining machinery operation.
