Mining Division of ROSATOM Completed Its Professional Skills Cup
Today, on April 22, 2021, the Mining Division of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation (ARMZ Uranium Holding Co./Atomredmetzoloto, JSC) completed ARMZSkills-2021 — the 4th Professional Skills Cup. The event was held in the Kurgan Region in the premises of Dalur, JSC (managed by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.). The venues were arranged at the Shadrinsk Polytechnic College in Shadrinsk and at the central production site of the uranium mining enterprise (in the village Uksyanskoe, Dalmatovsky District).
The participants in ARMZSkills-2021 were 70 employees of Russian uranium mining companies (E.P. Slavsky PIMCU, PJSC; Khiagda, JSC, and Dalur, JSC), the engineering center of VNIPIpromtekhnologii, JSC, and RUSBURMASH, JSC, a specialized company for geological exploration and drilling works.
The most numerous was the competence «Special Vehicle Driver»: 11 participants and the same number of experts. 7 contestants participated in each of the following competencies: «Laboratory Chemical Analysis» and «Welding Technology». In total, there were five sets of medals at stake («gold», «silver», and «bronze»).
Stanislav Anikeev, Human Resources Director, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.: «The ARMZSkills Cup has been contributing to the development of our staff for the fourth year now. It helps us train highly-qualified personnel in line with international standards. During training and participation, our workers improve their professional skills which, in turn, enhance the safety culture, labor productivity and competitiveness».
Here are the names of the winners:
«Welding Technology»: participant Vasily Dynenkov and expert Petr Shendrik (PIMCU, PJSC).
«Analytical Control» (Laboratory Chemical Analysis): participant Galina Dergunova and expert Anna Dneprovskaya (Khiagda, JSC).
«Special Vehicle Driver»: participant Oleg Laperdin and expert Maksim Krasnoperov (Khiagda, JSC).
«Occupational Safety and Health»: participant Dmitry Artamonov and expert Evgeny Svyatetskiy (RUSBURMASH, JSC).
«Radiation Control» (dosimetrists): participant Mariya Vdovina and expert Aleksandr Vdovin (Dalur, JSC).
It should be noted that, in the «Special Vehicle Driver» competence, all prizes went to Khiagda, JSC, whereas Vasily Dynenkov, an electric and gas welder of the 8th category, PIMCU, PJSC, won ARMZSkills for the fourth time.
The best team in the medal standings was the picked team of Khiagda, JSC. Petr Shendrik, an expert in the «Welding Technology» competence (Director of the Certification Center of Welders, PIMCU, PJSC) highlighted the high level of the fourth Cup: «From year to year, we observe the professional growth of our participants. For example, welders have perfected their skills so much that today they demonstrate a real jewelry art. We prepare competition tasks under the WORLDSKILLS methodologies and standards, and every year, we complicate the conditions by reducing the execution time and expanding the theoretical base». One of the most spectacular stages of the event was driving in the «Special Vehicle Driver» competence. On large-sized vehicles, the participants performed complex figures — S-turns forward and backward, following tracking ruts, driving into a parking bay. Oleg Laperdin, the winner in this competence, shared his experience: «We received a strong support from funs and our team; we had no right to let them down». He added that the competition promotes the people’s professional growth, acquiring new knowledge; it strengthens their will and the ability to find a way in a non-standard and stressful situation.
At the end of the competition program, all the participants took a guided tour to the Dalur, JSC production site — a modern high-tech enterprise engaged in extracting uranium using the in-situ leaching method. The participants also visited the workshop for production of scandium oxide based on recycling technology.
The next anniversary ARMZSkills will be hosted by PIMCU, PJSC, and the team of finalists is already preparing for the industry-wide AtomSkills-2021 cup to be held in August 2021 in Yekaterinburg.
The Mining Division holds the ARMZSkills Cup under the WorldSkills methodology to develop the competencies of its employees in line with international standards. The event is also a qualifying round for the industry-wide cup of professional skills — AtomSkills.
