RUSBURMASH Started Work in Chukotka
RUSBURMASH, JSC (subsidiary of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co./Mining Division of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation) will take part in the development of one of the world’s largest copper fields. In accordance with the terms of the contract with the Baimskaya Mining Company, LLC (member of KAZ Minerals Group), RUSBURMASH, JSC started a range of comprehensive engineering and geological surveys in Chukotka. In the Bilibinsky District of the Chukotka Autonomous Region, the largest project for the construction of a mining and processing plant is being implemented on the basis of Peschanka porphyry copper deposit. The MPP capacity will be 70 million tons of ore per year (1.4 million tons of copper concentrate per year). The commissioning of Baimsky MMP will provide 3.5 thousand jobs; the annual copper production in Russia will grow by 15-20%, and the molybdenum production will grow by almost 80%. Due to harsh climatic conditions, it is planned to widely use modern technological solutions, unmanned dump trucks will be used in construction among others, and production processes will be automated to the maximum extent.
RUSBURMASH, JSC will perform drilling work as part of the engineering and geological surveys along the planned road from the port to the field. «It is planned to drill minimum 18.5 thousand running meters of wells. We will work in the most difficult conditions of the Far North, on permafrost. We have the relevant experts and machinery, as well as a good experience in working on Novaya Zemlya Archipelago and in other regions,» said Dinis Ezhurov, Director General, RUSBURMASH, JSC.
Part of the equipment and tools is delivered to the work area by winter roads. Three more drilling machines will be delivered via the Northern Sea Route. The work must be completed in December 2021. «We are confident that our contractual obligations will be fulfilled qualitatively and on time,» noted Gleb Nosyrev, Deputy Director General for Development, RUSBURMASH, JSC.
