ARMZ Hosted Meeting on Mining, Processing, and Use of Rare and Rare Earth Metals

A meeting concerning the problems of mining, processing, and use of rare and rare earth metals was conducted on August 24 at the site of Atomredmetzoloto, JSC by Yu.M. Mikhailov, Chairman of the scientific and technical council of the Military and Industry Commission of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairmen of the panel of the Military and Industry Commission of the Russian Federation, with the participation of the representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rostec State Corporation, VIAM FSUE, Sky-Grad Group, as well as Rare and Rare Earth Metals Producers and Consumers Association.
The key problems faced by many companies investing in the development of projects on the arrangement of enterprises for mining and subsequent processing of rare and rare earth metals as well as the opportunities to expand the spheres of use of rare metals were discussed at the meeting. The experts paid special attention to the initiatives adopted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russian on amending the Tax Code of the Russian Federation in part of the tax on natural resources production relief for individual enterprises. The meeting participants formulated the suggestions on the further improvement of the legislation in this direction necessary for the achievement of goals set by the Government of the Russian Federation for the development of the rare and rare earth metals sector in the process of implementation of the Road Map for the development of the hi-tech sphere Technologies of New Materials and Substances.
After the meeting, the heads of United Uranium Enterprises, LLC — a subsidiary of Atomredmetzoloto, JSC — (I.L. Demidov, R.R Dimukhamedov) and Sky-Grad Group (A.M. Abramov) discussed the details of further development of the rare earth metals mining from the phosphogypsum tails, which allows solving one of the major environmental problems of the country.
