ARGO-Biathlon: Unique Competition at ARMZ Mining Machinery Site in Krasnokamensk

The stope miners of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union (E.P. Slavsky PIMCU, PJSC managed by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.) demonstrated the skills of ARGO load-haul dumpers (LHDs) driving. The unique environmentally friendly and safe battery-powered mining vehicles are manufactured by ARMZ Mining Machinery, LLC in Krasnokamensk and are used in the mines of PIMCU among other places. The event began with the demonstration of the vehicles running on the Li-Ion accumulator batteries. Three new LHDs drove into the center of the site and simultaneously lifted their scoops welcoming the fans. After the drawing procedure, the participants toed the starting line. Each of them was to bridge the specially prepared track with artificial lifts and slopes, gather a whole scoop of mine rock in the specially prepared mine tunnel, and then unload an elevated track into a transporting mine car. The final stage, «LHDs bowling», was the most difficult. A ball weighing 110 kg was rolled into the LHD scoop; the participant took aim, levelled the scoop down in order to knock down the pins lined on the road.
Each stage was judged by a professional judicial staff under the chairmanship of PIMCU Chief Engineer Alexander Rabolt. On the competition results, stope miner Denis Leonov performed all tasks in the quickest, most professional and qualitative manner. The winner pointed out that the rain which accompanied the competition once again proved the reliability of ARGO battery-powered vehicles. Stope miner Nikita Butuk took the second line, and Yuri Mashkov took the third line. In the undivided opinion of the participants, such competitions help unify the staff from different groups and promote the team spirit.
