RUSBURMASH Started 2nd Engineering and Geological Survey Field Season in Chukotka
RUSBURMASH, JSC (managed by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co./Rosatom’s Mining Division) began the second field season of engineering and geological survey in Chukotka.
Bilibinsky District of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug is implementing the largest project of building mining and processing works on the basis of the Peschanka porphyry and copper deposit. The works are to produce 70 million tonnes of ore per year (1.4 million tonnes of copper concentrate). Under the terms of the contract with Baimskaya Mining Company, LLC (part of KAZ Minerals group), RUSBURMASH, JSC carries out drilling operations as part of the engineering and geological survey for the planned road route from the port to the deposit.
The first part of the work was completed in spring of 2021. In November, three additional drilling rigs were delivered via the Northern Sea Route. The equipment was unloaded at the port of Pevek. «We plan to drill a total of at least 18,500 linear meters of wellbores. We work in the extreme conditions of the Far North, on the permafrost soils. We have the appropriate experts and equipment, we have good experience of working in Novaya Zemlya and other regions,» says Gleb Nosyrev, Director General of RUSBURMASH, JSC.
