ARMZ Organizes 5th «Uranium: Geology, Resources, Production» International Symposium
The key symposium organizers are the Federal Agency for Mineral Resources (Rosnedra) and the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Mineral Resources (FSBI VIMS).
At the plenary session, Vladislav Korogodin, Director for NPP Life and Fuel Cycle Management, ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation, gave a talk about the situation and prospects for further development of nuclear energy in Russia. Victor Svyatetskiy, First Deputy Director General — Chief Operating Officer of ROSATOM’s Mining Division, spoke about the potential of the uranium mining industry. In particular, he emphasized that: «The commodities-based industries related to nuclear energy continue to grow. In the Republic of Buryatia, Khiagda, JSC commenced the development of the Kolichikan uranium deposit, while Dalur, JSC started operations at the Dobrovolnoye deposit in the Kurgan region. We put our expectations with regard to uranium mining in new Mine No. 6, which is under construction, to enable development of the Argunskoye and Zherlovoye fields in the Trans-Baikal Territory. E.P. Slavsky PIMCU, PJSC has completed the infrastructure facilities and begun to erect the tipple facilities».
Igor Solodov, Director for Innovation and Technology Programs, ARMZ Uranium Holding Co., together with colleagues from FSBI VIMS talked about the future development of the Vitimsky uranium region in the Republic of Buryatia.
Seven scientific reports on up-to-date technologies for processing of uranium ores, RM/REM mining and reclamation of abandoned mining sites were presented by researchers of VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC (Engineering Center of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.). Andrey Gladyshev, Director General of VNIPIpromtechnologii, JSC, together with scientists at the Seversk Institute of Technology within the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (STI NRNU MEPhI) talked about new highly effective location schemes for ISL production wells.
In addition, STI NRNU MEPhI representatives gave talks on ‘digital’ uranium mining technologies used at enterprises of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co., such as Khiagda, JSC and Dalur, JSC. The leaders of RUSBURMASH, JSC (a specialized company of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. for geological exploration and drilling) presented state-of the-art production well designs, tools for automating the ISL management process, etc.
«The 5th international symposium has proved the technological and scientific leadership of our country in uranium mining. Undoubtedly, we will continue to create and introduce next-generation environmentally-friendly technologies to meet the needs of our homeland in the strategic metal and prevent harmful effects on the environment,» said Victor Svyatetskiy.
