Dalur Can Now Continue Developing Khokhlovskoye Deposit
By the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, the sites needed for the Company to carry out uranium mining have been transferred to the category of «industrial land». Naturally, these sites are within the boundaries of the Dalur, JSC’s license. During public hearings held at the Palace of Culture of the Town of Shumikha, local residents approved amendments to the Municipal District’s Land Use and Development Rules.
Kamol Kadyrov, the First Deputy Director General of Dalur, JSC: «Today, the development of the Tsentralnaya and Zapadnaya fields is underway at the Khokhlovskoye Deposit. Changing the land category will allow us to start building infrastructure and to further develop three more fields — Vostochnaya, Dalnevostochnaya, and Dyuryaginskaya. Therefore, as soon as in 2022–2023, the uranium mining center of the Kurgan Region will start moving to Shumikha. It is there that the bulk of the strategic metal will be mined».
Answering questions from the audience, Kamol Kadyrov said that the land plots are located at a distance of at least 1.5 km away from the human settlement boundaries. He emphasized that «We fully comply with all the relevant requirements, including those regarding the sanitary protection zone. In our activities, we use environmentally friendly methods that allow us to work as efficiently and safely as possible for the environment. In particular, before putting a well into operation, we carry out several strict leak tests, which eliminates the risk of any leaks. All materials used are certified and meet production and environmental standards. Any harmful impact on human health is absolutely excluded».
The questions of many participants of the hearings concerned the prospects for the development of the Shumikha Municipal District. The First Deputy Director General of Dalur, JSC said that, about 60 new jobs will be created at the deposit in 2022. The amount of support for social projects is also increasing every year. In particular, in 2021, the repair of school No. 9 and kindergarten No. 12 was completed, financed from the funds of the Uranium Mining Company; a SAMBO club was opened with the support of Dalur, JSC. In 2022, the Company will continue its support for the education sector and road repair in the territory of the Trusilovo Village Council.
In the Shumikha District, Dalur, JSC continues the construction of new railway facilities. A 110/10 kV substation was put under load; a chemical warehouse is ready to receive chemicals; construction and installation work was completed on the water tower. The construction of access railway lines to the railroad facilities is underway. The development of the Khokhlovskoye Deposit fields will allow for Dalur, JSC to maintain the total uranium production at the current level.
