25% of PIMCU’s Load-Haul-Dumper Fleet Operating at Mines is Environmentally Friendly Battery-Powered Machines

The machinery was supplied by ARMZ Mining Machinery, LLC (subsidiary of ARMZ Uranium Holding Co.), which manufactures its own battery-powered mining machinery. We are talking about load-haul-dumpers of 140 B model powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries, which came to replace diesel machinery. Their key advantage is the absence of harmful emissions into the atmosphere, which is an important condition for maintaining a «healthy climate» in the limited space of the mine.
Ecological transformation in the field of replacing conventional means of transport with environmentally friendly ones has been underway for 2 years. As Ivan Kiselev, Director General of PIMCU, PJSC, noted, «25% is just the beginning. Currently, ARMZ Mining Machinery is working on a new version of load-haul-dumpers of one more standard size for certain mining and geological conditions. During operation, ARGO battery-powered loaders have shown the reliability of their design, while in terms of environmental standards and requirements, they significantly exceed their diesel and cable counterparts».
«Recently, we had the first export shipment and further negotiations are underway on deliveries to other countries. In the near future, we plan to start production of the next model of underground machines powered by lithium-ion batteries, which will be medium-sized,» noted Igor Semenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ARMZ Mining Machinery.
Battery-powered machines are gradually replacing PIMCU’s diesel and cable mine loaders, which allows the company to reduce not only the mining cost, but also the environmental burden, and improve safety of mining operations.
